Joaquin G. Arciniegas, M.D., F.A.C.C.
Dr. Arciniegas is a native of Colombia, South America where he attended medical school graduating in 1973. After initial post graduate training in Colombia, he came to the United States in 1975 where he completed internal medicine training and chief residency at the Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. He then did his cardiology fellowship at UAB where he was also on staff for a period of time. He has been a member of our group since January 1983.
Dr. Arciniegas is board certified in general cardiology, interventional cardiology and the implantation of ICDs and pacemakers. He is an expert in management of patient with acute myocardial infarction with urgent angioplasty and stent deployment. He performs electrophysiological studies for diagnosis of cardiac dysrhythmias and can provide treatment with radiofrequency ablation for atrial flutter and supraventricular tachyarrhythmias. His experience with implants of pacemaker, ICDs and biventricular pacing is extensive. Dr. Arciniegas sees patients at St. Vincent's Birmingham.
