Target Audience: The 2011 Cardiology Update is a one-day course designed for physicians, nurses and medical staff that will receive a review and update of a wide range of current topics in cardiology.
Objectives
- Identify various herbal remedies benefit and risks.
- Understand mechanisms and frequency of statin related myopathy.
- Explain the indications for aspirin, clopidogrel and prasugrel use.
- Understand the shifting utilization of warfarin to dabigatran therapy.
- Understand new options of intravascular repair procedures.
- Understand the various treatment choices of A. fib management from medicine to catheter ablation.
- Explain the new process and utilization of pharmogenetic testing.
- Understand new options in diuretic therapy including vasopressin receptor antagonist use.
- Be introduced to the new ACLS guidelines for CPR.
- Be updated on the new hypertension treatment guidelines.
- Understand risk factors, medical and surgical therapy for obesity.
- Understand cardiovascular reperfusion therapy effect on prolonging life.
- Understand indicaions for ICDs.
